The Soloist has a huge advantage over any other power line filter we make simply because there's no power cord! Yeah, I know it sounds simplistic but it's true. While there are good power cables and there are bad power cables and everything in between, there's nothing better than no power cable!
At PS Power, we know because we make some of the very best power cables on the planet. However, there's no power cable like no power cable and that's just the way it is.
Like our friend Bill Lowe of Audioquest likes to say, the goal in a cable is to do as little harm as possible.
The big advantage of the Soloist is the house wiring ties directly to it.
Is it easy to install? Well, it's easier than a Power Port to install.
Seriously, if you've installed a Power Port, then installing a Soloist is a piece of cake. Especially if you already have a dual gang outlet: you simply remove the existing outlets, tie the three wires on the back of the Soloist to the AC wires with the supplied wire nuts and you're done.
The problem comes in when you have (like most of us) a single gang box, but actually this isn't too bad either.
The vast majority of homes in the US are built with sheetrock or drywall. So, all that's required is a small drywall saw and you simply enlarge the opening, remove the single gang J-box and add in the new (supplied) double gang box and you're done.
